The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce the return of defenceman Jack Murray for the forthcoming 2022/23 NIHL season.
Murray joined the Wild from local rivals Blackburn last summer and was an important part of the team that finished 3rd in the Moralee Division and won the Moralee Cup last season. In 38 games across all competitions for the Wild, he scored 1 assist and picked up 10 penalty minutes.
Jack is a product of the Blackburn junior system and is a former captain of the Hawks U18 team. He has previously made 106 senior appearances at NIHL level for the Hawks 1&2 teams.
Wild player coach Richard Haggar said of Murray:
“Jack is a young no nonsense defenceman. Throughout last season I saw him continue his development and progression which I am sure will continue into this year too. He is very talented and I will be looking to him to play more minutes this year as I was impressed with what he offered last season and he will only go from strength to strength which I look forward to seeing from him this season.”
Commenting on this return to the Wild, Murray said:
“It was a pleasure to be asked to come back to Widnes for another season. I can’t wait to get back on the ice with the boys again and play again in front of our great fans.”
Jack Murray will once again wear the number 71 shirt and his home, away and warm up shirts are available to “own and loan” at a cost of £80.00 per shirt for the season.
