The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild are pleased to announce the return of utility player Keiron Furlong for the forthcoming 2022/23 NIHL season.
Furlong joined the Wild last summer, having previously had spells with Hull Jets and Blackburn Hawks 2 in the NIHL Laidler Division and stints with Kingston, Trafford, Blackburn, Telford and Sheffield as a junior. He was an important part of the team that finished 3rd in the Moralee Division and won the Moralee Cup last season. In 35 games across all competitions for the Wild, he scored 2 goals and picked up 10 penalty minutes.
Wild player coach Richard Haggar said of Furlong:
“Keiron is a young player and the future of Widnes with good hands, can shoot and certainly played a big part in our season especially when we struggled with injuries/covid. He is able to play both forward and defence who never complains but gets on with whatever is asked of him putting in 100% which is what I expect and look for in the team.”
“Keiron will continue to develop this season and it’s easy to forget how young he is as he takes everything in his stride and really gelled with everyone in the changing room”
Commenting on this return to the Wild, Furlong said:
“After an amazing 21/22 season with the Wild, it’s great to have the opportunity to be back for the coming season. Buzzing to get back on the ice with a great bunch of players alongside the support of the fans and Wild staff”
Keiron Furlong will once again wear the number 86 shirt and his home, away and warm up shirts are available to “own and loan” at a cost of £80.00 per shirt for the season.
