The YKK sponsored Widnes Wild play their first home Moralee Division game of the season this Sunday 25th September when they take on the Whitley Warriors at Planet Ice Widnes, 5.30m face off.
The two teams met in the season opener in the North East two weeks ago, with the Warriors just edging a narrow 4-3 win in the closing minutes so Sunday’s game will represent an early opportunity for the Wild to go one better this time around.
Widnes picked up their first league win away at Nottingham last Sunday and will be keen to build on that while Whitley had a mixed weekend, losing 5-2 away at last season’s league champions Solway Sharks on Saturday before beating Solihull Barons 4-2 at home on Sunday.
Sunday’s game is doubly important as the first meeting home and away between all the teams in the league also count towards the qualifying group of the Moralee Cup, which Widnes won last season and are hoping to defend this time around.
The Wild will be continuing with the highly popular player appearances again this season where two players will be available for photos and autographs after each game in the area down by the café.
For anybody who is unable to attend the match in person, Sunday’s home game will be live streamed over the internet by the Wild’s broadcasting partner BASN as part of their “Drop The Puck” coverage.
This is an exciting initiative for the new season and all the Wild’s home leagues will be available to watch live as they happen – with the usual highlights packages being available to view later in the week.
There is a charge for the livestream and you can find out more HERE
