Following the conclusion of the women’s ice hockey season, the Wild Ladies team held their end of season awards night.
The award for most points for the season went to Preston Gennoe, who joined the club last summer. She finished the campaign with 8 goals and 4 assists from 13 league and challenge games and also topped the club standings in penalties with 26.
The Wild Ladies player, coach and captain Leen de Decker – who holds the all time goals and appearances record in the World Championships for her native Belgium – was named Best Forward of the Year while the Best Defence award went to Vanessa Crickmore-Clarke.
Overworked netminder Stephanie Drinkwater – who faced more shots in the WPL than any other goaltender this season, but also made more saves than anybody else – was Players’ Player of the Season and Charlotte Cramp was Coach’s Player of the Season.
Ellie Walsh-O’Neill – playing her first season of senior competition – was named most improved player.
The Wild Ladies team are now taking a well –earned break and will resume training for the new season on 19th July. New players – especially anybody with league experience – are always welcome.
